The Collis Galli (Warriors of the Hills) Fighting Co is made up of mostly Barbarians and Warriors drawn from the hills outside of Western Gate. Called on to protect the trade routes between Western Gate and The Knoblands, we travel to put down those who wish not to live in peace!
The founders of the B.H.M. were a group of semi-successful bandits that got drafted (instead of hung) during one of the many local wars of the Medtraensae Basin. They took their name from the blue hoods used to hide their identities in a robbery. After that war they banded together with unemployed soldiers as caravan guards and mercenaries. They were not above proving to reluctant clients the need for their services. When the call to arms against the giants came, the B.H.M. was forced to go along because the rulers of the lands considered them a threat. The B.H.M. had evolved from it's bandit roots into a tough professional fighting force, and Folcwine represented this. Among the surviving commanders of the army's hosts and banners only Folcwine still commanded a full war banner. She was elected general. With her reduced forces, Folcwine adopted hit & run and ambush tactics; reserving the more dangerous open assaults for key battles. She kept the giants from overrunning that sector until the Human population could gather a crop and migrate to a sector set aside for them. Even here, in the first year, the army had to fight a dozen giant tribes trying to take more land than the gods had allotted. A few decided to settle in this sector, realizing they would never see home again. One day the gods showed up with a new mission in another sector. A couple years of relative peace after almost sixteen years of war took the fight out of many hearts. Many were weary of doing the bidding of gods that hadn't been heard from in three years. Silvertine and two score of crippled, elderly, or female soldiers with babes were given leave to stay. A few dozen deserters, most from her own command, also did not go with Folcwine. That is how the Clans of the B.H.M. really began. The founders of the clans were a feuding people from the start. Only the threat of the giants held them together in the first decades. There was room enough in the foothills of the Osrk Mountains to maintain an uneasy peace for several generations. Eventually old feuds and greed led to raiding and war. Scorpion convinced the chiefs he had a vision of the clans returning as one people to the Medtraensae Basin. His method effectively exiles the clans' war leaders on a quest to find the way. For the time it has brought peace to the clans, so I encourage it. The peoples we brought to this land did not willingly give their daughters to the soldiers of the B.H.M. A few years after Folcwine took the remnant of the Basin Army on another mission from the gods, some of the deserters started raiding nearby settlements for cattle and women. Those settlers eventually moved to friendlier parts. I am the last survivor of the Basin Army. I was considered too young to join the Dwarven Infantry that had accompanied Androsine, so I signed on as a supply wagon driver. Over the years of the Giant Wars I received weapons training, and was eventually put into the ranks to make up for losses. I was never an actual member of the Blue Hood Marquee, but then neither was many of the clans' founders. It's just a name that all remember and claim. To the others, I'm the clanless old one.Myth of the BHM
